Yellowstone Trip 1997

Donna's Comments About the trip

I couldn't believe the view when I stepped off the plane in Jackson Hole. The Grand Tetons were amazing! We stayed at Jackson Lake Lodge and had a full view of the Grand Tetons from our room. We awoke in the middle of the night and saw the moon shining on the mountains. You'd have to see it to appreciate the beauty. Don't miss the Alpine Slide in Jackson Hole for a fun ride down the mountain. Also great shopping in Jackson Hole. For a peaceful, quiet time, spend a night at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. I really enjoyed this old hotel. We took an old 1 lane road over the hill from here into Montana. We stayed at Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone which had been my desire that I had had for a lone time. What a unique place, and when I say unique I really mean this place is unique. We had a view of Old Faithful Geyser from our room. We went on a Ranger guided trip up the hill overlooking the Inn and learned a lot about Yellowstone wildlife and the history of the park and the Inn. Forest fires raged through the park in 1988, and the Inn was threatened but thanks to a change in the wind and to volunteers who put out sparks that landed on and near the Inn, it was saved. The Inn also had just had a sprinkler system installed on the roof the previous year, good timing. It was said that it looked like waterfalls comming off the roof.
